If you would like to feel charm of history you will certainly like this more than 100 years old fishermen’s house, which is located only 200 m from sea. There is a nice, small sandy beach 200 meters from the house, but to get there you have to walk through the reeds that grow here, the path is not the most pleasant, plastic sandals are recommended. But once you get to the beach you are likely to be alone there and enjoy it a lot. This beach is some 75-100 meters long and 7-10 meters wide. An excellent, large sandy beach is located 3 km from this summer house. The inside of house is recently renovated but at the same time ancient breath is still alive: ancient sewing-machine as well as antique beds in good condition. From the bed room’s window you can see the sea. Very close to the house is nice small café in which you can treat yourself with good food. The best choice for bird-watchers! (bird-watching tower is around 2,5 km from house)
The house is located around 50 km from Jurmala and 85 km from Riga.
For extra fee the house owner will rent you the boat for fishing or go boating for fun in the Engure Lake which is only 2 km far from the house. The lake is quite rich with fishes. (as the lake is nature protected territory – going by boat is allowed only starting from 18th of June).
The owners of house own old traditional Latvian sauna (bathhouse) – it will be exiting for real sauna fans as sauna is kept authentic like it was in beginning of 20th century. When you are going to sauna don’t forget about birch besom! Price for one bathing in sauna – 10 LVL
Only few kilometers distance there is bird watching tower, orchid trail and pastures for wild cows and horses. Lake Engure is richest with birds in Latvia. In the lake and surrounding there is living 169 bird species (some of them are included in World Red book). As well as there is lot of different type of plants – some of them are included Red book.
