A basic, but nice, house in good condition and with modern comforts at a reasonable price in the cosy little village of Orissaare on Saaremaa’s north-east coast. Bathing and good fishing nearby. The house is a traditional Estonian small-town house, built in the 1950ies and with a large yard on the outskirts of the village. Something like 600 meters to Orissaare’s little beach and little harbour. A cosy, almost idyllic little village guaranteed free from stress and hurry.

The house has two bedrooms and a sofa-bed in the living-room, a little kitchen and a wc. Shower, with hot water from a boiler in found in the detached sauna house. Sure, some of the furniture is from the 1950ies and forward, but in good condition and contributing to a welcome sense of time standing still. The double bed in one of the bed-rooms is 120 cm wide, which is not large, but enough. The same goes for the sofa-bed in the living-room. All te rooms let are on the ground floor. If it does not disturb you the owner may ask your permission to use the second floor just for sleeping if he needs to stay in the village, the second floor has a separate entrance (staircase on the outside of the house), and if you find this disturbing it will not happen.

A large garden surrounds the house and in it there is a small detached sauna and storage building. The garden is highly suitable for small children to run about without need for supervision. The plot has streets on two sides, but there is no drive-through traffic here, they are quiet neighborhood streets. There are some bicycles you can use (but we can not guarantee them, if they have been broken, they may not be available and thenumber of bicycles is uncertain). The owner of the house has a boat you can rent (please ask us before arriving) and if you really enjoy fishing the owner has promised to organize fishing-trips for you (be sure to ask us before arriving).

Orissaare is a small village on the north-east coast of Saaremaa island, approximately 5 km from the main road between Virtsu (harbor for the ferry to the mainland) and Kuressaare (Saaremaa’s “capital”). This makes Orissaare a good starting-point for exploring the island and also the neighboring island of Muhu (between Saaremaa and the mainland). Orissaare is famous for its soccer field!!! It’s said to be the only soccer field in the world with a large tree in the middle of it. A few kilometers north-west of Orisaare are the ruins of the Maasi stronghold, a visit or maybe even a picnic there is highly recommended, the site is very beautiful, on a hill by the sea. In Orissaare you find all the basic services you need, for instance one larger general store and some restaurants/pubs, of which at least two are beautifully located right by the sea. Across the strait, on Muhu island we recommend a visit the most charming museum village of Koguva, a whole traditional fishermen’s village preserved for us to experience times gone by. There is also a small art gallery and a local museum.
