Near the beautiful west coast of Saaremaa, some 6 km from Vilsandi national park, we offer this comfortable and charming cottage for two families. The cottage is situated 3 km from the sea, in the small village of Varpe. By the sea there is also a beach. The nearest larger community is Lümanda where you can buy supplies at the food-store and have a meal at the pub. The cottage interior is mainly made by wood giving a warm and cosy feel. The garden is beautiful and well-kept. You may also rent the cottage in winter-time at a most reasonable price giving you access to wonderful experiences in the unspoilt nature.
The cottage is built in 1999 and the interior is built by a local carpenter, who also made much of the furniture. On the ground floor you find a living-room with a fireplace, a kitchen with a small dining-table and a sauna with WC and shower. I the living-room bookshelf you find books about Estonia and Saaremaa and dictionaries. I the garden with fruit-trees there is a barbeque, outdoors cooker with smoking-stove and swings.
The distance to Saaremaa’s ”capital”, Kuressaare is 30 km. 7 km from the cottage you enter the Vilsandi national park and the Viidumäe nature protection park is just 3 km from the cottage, both parks feature fine hiking trails. Vilsandi is actually a small island surrounded by over 100 even smaller islands and it is famous as a stop-over for migrating birds and for unique landscape types. In the park you find several bird-watching towers and an information center. Viidumäe is Saaremaa’s highest point and in the protected area you find several rare plants. Nearby there also many other places of interest – in Saaremaa you always find something new to discover.
Please note that the rent includes free sauna two times a week, for addional sauna bath there is a modest fee for the firewood and the same goes for firewood for the outdoor stove and the fireplace. Bedlinen and towels can be rented and final cleaning can be ordered. There are two bicycles available to rent.
